OWNERSHIP OPTIONS:
SOLE OWNERSHIP
RUN A HORSE(S) IN YOUR OWN NAME AND COLOURS
A Sole Owner has complete ownership of their horse(s), with the horse(s) racing under their colors and name. All costs and profits are solely their responsibility. As a sole owner, you own 100% of the horse(s) you race, but you can also enter into partnerships with other owners for separate horses.
SYNDICATE
3 – 100 PEOPLE RACE A HORSE COLLECTIVELY UNDER ONE NAME
A syndicate will be overseen by a designated agent, chosen either by the other syndicate members or by those establishing the syndicate. There’s no need for individual syndicate members to register separate accounts with Horse Racing Ireland. This option is perfect for those seeking a more social approach to racehorse ownership or for those wanting to try it out before fully committing.
COMPANY OWNERSHIP
RUN A HORSE(S) UNDER A COMPANY NAME
A company functions similarly to a sole owner, holding 100% ownership of its horses. However, it can also enter into partnerships with other ownership types. The company will have a registered agent to manage the ownership on its behalf.
PARTNERSHIP
2-6 SOLE OWNERS JOIN TOGETHER TO RACE A HORSE(S)
Partnerships allow owners to have a bigger percentage of each horse they own. They will split all costs and earnings according to the prior agreed split in the partnership percentages. All partners in the horse must be a registered owner themselves before entering a partnership of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 owners maximum.
CLUB
UNLIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE RACE A HORSE COLLECTIVELY UNDER ONE NAME
Racing Clubs operate differently from syndicate ownership. When you join a racing club, you pay a subscription to become an owner and gain a share in all the horses owned by the club. The club is managed by a designated agent, rather than the members themselves, and there’s no need for members to register an account with Horse Racing Ireland.
